Logline

A journey into the pits of the underworld alongside Professor Argenti (Benedetta Buccellato) and Father Guglielmo (Luigi Diberti), unveiling the evils of our times: each circle of Hell is readapted to reflect modern society, illustrating its contradictions with great dramatic emphasis, while at the same time also delivering a message of hope and rebirth.

Synopsis

If Dante were to return today, what would he say about our world? Mirabile Visione: Inferno is the result of this assumption, an extraordinarily topical and visionary reinterpretation of Dante Alighieri’s Divine Comedy. Starting from the 19th century illustrations of painter Francesco Scaramuzza of Parma, like Dante with Virgil, we make our descent into the underworld led by actors Benedetta Buccellato (Professor Argenti) who reveals to her students a more revolutionary Dante, and by the words of Luigi Diberti (Father Guglielmo) expressing Dante’s most authentic message, delving into the great work of beauty, awakening and education that is the Divine Comedy. In Mirabile Visione: Inferno the evils of our time are X-rayed: each circle of Hell becomes a representation of modern society, of man’s possibilities and of his limits, the environmental/climatic global crisis and of capitalist society.

Mirabile Visione: Inferno is the first chapter of a trilogy, one per cantica, dedicated to the Illustrious Poet and the Divine Comedy.
